Job Description

Description


RES is a restoration and sustainability company focused on ecological restoration, mitigation, and environmental solutions. The organization works across diverse ecosystems, supporting projects that restore wetlands, streams, and habitats while advancing environmental stewardship.


This role supports field data collection, environmental monitoring, and ecological assessments under the guidance of senior scientists and project managers. It provides early-career exposure to fieldwork, data processing, regulatory frameworks, and applied environmental science in restoration projects.


Responsibilities



Conduct field data collection including soil sampling, vegetation surveys, and ecological assessments
Record plant species, environmental conditions, and site characteristics
Use GPS tools to map and document field data accurately
Follow established sampling protocols and safety procedures in the field
Maintain and manage field equipment for data collection activities
Enter and organize collected data into databases such as Excel
Process site photos, maps, and supporting documentation
Support preparation of technical reports and project documentation
Collaborate with field teams, scientists, and project managers
Assist in monitoring environmental conditions and restoration progress

Minimum Requirements



Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, geology, natural resources, or related field
Zero to two years of field experience including internships, academic work, or volunteer experience
Basic knowledge of scientific methods and field data collection practices
Familiarity with GPS and/or GIS tools
Understanding of ecological concepts such as native species, soil profiles, or hydrology
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain

Preferred Qualifications



Exposure to wetland, stream, or habitat assessments
Experience with field sampling equipment, inventories, or monitoring protocols
Understanding of regional environmental regulations and permitting
