Director of Project Finance in Renewables
Leap29 is thrilled to present an exceptional opportunity for a Director of Project Finance to join a highly regarded renewables company focusing on Wind, Solar, and BESS. This pivotal role involves spearheading the financing efforts for large-scale renewable energy projects and will require a passionate individual ready to make a difference in the sector.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead significant corporate and project finance transactions, encompassing equity, debt, and tax equity, with potential funding from government and strategic sources.
• Act as the internal project manager, ensuring alignment among stakeholders, managing budgets effectively, and maintaining project timelines.
• Drive tax credit monetization strategies and cater to working capital needs for industrial decarbonization initiatives.
• Oversee all facets of transaction execution, including marketing, term sheet negotiations, financial modeling, and due diligence processes with investors.
• Establish and nurture robust relationships with debt, equity, and tax equity investors.
• Independently develop complex financial models and guide the team in their application.
• Collaborate with leadership to devise innovative financing strategies and create impactful marketing materials for capital raising efforts.
• Report directly to the Managing Director, C-level management, and the Board of Directors, making sure to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience in project or corporate finance is essential, including at least 3 years in solar or storage projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing relationships with project sponsors, buyers, IPPs, tax equity investors, and lenders.
• Profound knowledge of project finance specific to solar PV plants and BESS, with a strong aptitude for risk evaluation and financing solutions development.
• Highly proficient in Excel for crafting financial models to analyze project economics and PPA bids.
• Experience collaborating with project developers and navigating RFP processes effectively.
• Proven success in sourcing investors, managing due diligence, and finalizing complex transactions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage effectively with senior leadership across diverse cultures.
• Flexibility to travel as required.
