Summary/Job Description
Miller Bros Solar is seeking a senior, hands-on operations leader to serve as Director of Operations in support of a utility-scale renewable energy owner/operator partnership. This role will be embedded within the partner’s home office and will focus on solving operational challenges across the full lifecycle of projects, from early operations through steady-state performance.
The ideal candidate is an experienced operations professional who can operate effectively in an embedded partnership model, serving as the primary day-to-day operational leader and liaison between corporate stakeholders and field operations teams.


During the initial phase, this role will provide direct oversight of day-to-day plant operations, including regional management responsibilities for projects currently in operation. As the asset base grows, the position will transition toward broader portfolio leadership, with regional managers added to assume day-to-day site responsibilities, allowing increased focus on strategic oversight and the execution of continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Embedded Partnership & Stakeholder Leadership
Serve as the embedded operations leader within a client/owner organization. While embedded within the partner’s organization, this role remains an employee of Miller Bros Solar and operates with defined authority over field operations while collaborating closely with client stakeholders.
Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues and significant portfolio events
Maintain strong alignment between corporate stakeholders and field operations teams
Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency, and develop plans to address them
Share technical expertise and best practices to improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency across teams
Operational & Field Oversight (Initial Phase)
Champion a culture of safety and quality across all O&M projects and teams
Provide direct oversight of utility-scale solar and BESS plant operations
Manage Plant Managers, Technicians, and site-based personnel
Coordinate preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities
Ensure strict adherence to our training requirements, and Right-to-Work qualifications
Portfolio Performance & Continuous Improvement
Partner with performance and engineering resources to track KPIs and optimize asset performance
Identify underperforming assets and lead remediation and improvement plans
Drive standardization, best practices, and operational excellence across the fleet
Professional & Business Skills
Strong business and operational judgment, with the ability to balance safety, performance, cost, risk, and contractual obligations
Proven ability to lead across complex, multi-stakeholder environments and drive cross-functional alignment
Executive-level communication skills, including customer engagement, reporting, and senior-leadership presentations
Executive Reporting & Transparency
Deliver clear, executive-level operational reporting
Translate field data and performance trends into actionable insights for leadership
Growth & Scale
Support pre-COD, commissioning, and early-operations readiness for new assets
Guide the deployment and onboarding of additional regional leadership as the portfolio grows

Qualification & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
10+ years of experience in operations management within the renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar, and BESS.
In-depth knowledge of PV and BESS technologies, including system design, operations, and maintenance.
Experience operating assets across multiple ISO’s
Extensive experience interfacing with OEMs and contractors on warranty matters
