Job Description

US Solar is seeking a Project Engineer in Minneapolis, MN, to manage engineering activities for solar projects. Responsibilities include creating Basis of Design, selecting engineering partners, administering contracts, and supporting technical issues. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s in Engineering, 3 years of relevant experience, and strong communication skills. Solar PV knowledge is preferred. The position offers a salary of $110K–120K per year and is a full-time role.

US Solar is hiring a Project Engineer to oversee engineering activities through the life cycle of US Solar’s Development and Operations activities. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Creation and maintenance of Basis of Design (BOD) based on state/regional requirements, new technologies, contractor feedback
• Ensure internal and external counterparties utilize and comply with most current BOD
• Selection of engineering partners in new and existing markets
• Build engineering scopes of work
• Request competitive proposals
• Administer the creation and execution of service contracts
• Support engineering partner relationships
• Attend regular meetings and record meeting minutes
• Maintain for engineering schedules
• Administer engineering invoices and applicable change orders
• Review engineering deliverables to assure accuracy of requested elements
• Assure appropriate file storage for transparency with all departments
• Communicate engineering information and specifications to internal and external stakeholders
• Understand and analyze the impact of design decisions on project budgets and risks.
• Assist Development and Operations staff in technical issues arising from utility interaction
• Participate in US Solar response to RFPs with utilities and related potential customers
• Respond to Financial counterparties’ technical questions as part of due diligence

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline; Electrical or Power Systems Engineering experience preferred
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role or utilizing similar core proficiencies
• Strong analytical skills with knowledge of development and construction activities
• Solar PV experience and knowledge preferred but not required
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Ability to do minor in-state traveling
