Baker Hughes is seeking a Cost and Sustainability Engineer for Gas Tech Equipment in Florence, Italy. The role involves developing product roadmaps focused on cost and sustainability, collaborating with engineering and supply chain teams, and implementing value management techniques. Responsibilities include analyzing costs, reducing carbon footprints, and guiding design teams on sustainability practices. Candidates should have a mechanical engineering degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Partner with the best
As a Cost and Sustainability Engineer you will play a key role in the development of our product roadmap within our Gas Technology Equipment by providing the Governance for Cost and Sustainability disciplines. Collaborating with Engineering, Product Platforms and Supply Chain to drive consistency and perfection in the delivery of Value Management Techniques for the entire Product Lifecycle and creating, validating and training of all the best in class methodologies to support Product Cost Competitiveness and Design for Sustainability Strategy for new Product Development.
As a Cost and Sustainability Engineer, you will be responsible for:
• Developing benchmarking techniques and critical analysis to challenge and drive the best value proposition.
• Coordinating engineering activities to develop Cost effective design solution and unlock opportunities to reduce the Carbon Footprint of our products.
• Contributing in learning how to design, buy and manufacture with leanest and lowest cost possible and driving the research and adoption of lower carbon footprint materials, technologies and processes.
• Establishes and maintaining liaison with manufacturing and sourcing to identify areas of inefficiency, and implement measures to reduce energy waste, lower costs and lessen environmental impact.
• Integrating with different product development teams early in the design process to support decision making around environmental impact and competitiveness and develops Design for Cost and Sustainability guidelines to support product development activities.
• Developing parametric Cost and Carbon footprint functions and a Conceptual Tool to optimize architecture from conceptual phase.
• Developing and expanding analytical Cost and Carbon footprint calculation tool integrated with Design tools for Detailed Engineering phase.
• Developing the tools and capabilities needed to measure the Cost and the Environmental impact of our products and carry out the technical analysis to support the evolution of our Cost and Carbon impact
• Taking initiative for the development of new procedures and re-design activities to improve year-over-year the value of the product.
• Guiding design teams and supply chain to develop a multi-disciplinary product Cost and Sustainability awareness.
• Educating, enabling and inspiring those in Design team and in other functions.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
• Have a degree in a mechanical engineering related subject or equivalent knowledge or experience.
• Have at least 5 years in cost and design engineering
• Have an in-depth understanding of complex component and system design Demonstrate extensive experience in engineering, executing technical tasks and facing internal and external customers
• Be conversant with various estimation tools, database methods, benchmarking techniques, etc.
• Have good communication skills across multiple levels and disciplines
• Demonstrate Initiative, energy and dynamism in your approach
• Have good team coordination and collaborative skills
• Be fluent in English & Italian
