Job Description

Hays is seeking a Construction Manager for Water/Wastewater projects in Georgia. The role involves leading the construction phase of infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, budget adherence, and schedule compliance. Key responsibilities include contract administration, procurement management, and team leadership. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, 7+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, and strong leadership skills. This is a full-time position.
Position:
Construction Manager — Water & Wastewater
Role Overview:Lead and manage the construction phase of water/wastewater infrastructure projects—such as pump stations, treatment plants, sewer replacements, and water transmission/distribution systems. Ensure projects are delivered safely, within scope, on budget, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:Oversee all aspects of contract administration, including change orders, submittals, and RFIsCoordinate procurement, manage material POs, and oversee subcontractor agreementsLead construction kickoff, progress, and coordination meetingsMonitor schedule adherence and financial performance; implement corrective actions as neededEnsure compliance with municipal permits, safety regulations, and quality standardsAct as the primary interface with owners, engineering teams, and inspectorsGuide and develop onsite construction staff, fostering a collaborative cultureConduct field reviews, manage constructability and design conflict resolutionDrive project closeout activities: as-built documentation, punch-lists, and turnover of manuals/warrantiesQualifications:Education & Certification:Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Construction Engineering/ManagementProfessional certifications (e.g., PE, PMP, CCM) preferredExperience:7+ years of heavy civil or infrastructure construction experienceDemonstrated knowledge of municipal water/wastewater systems (pump stations, pipelines, treatment facilities)Proven background in managing multi-million-dollar water/wastewater projects from pre-construction through closeoutSkills & Attributes:Strong leadership, communication, and team management abilitiesProficient in cost control, schedule management, and contract negotiationFamiliarity with CAD/Civil 3D and construction management softwareDetail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-focused in fast-paced settings.Benefits: Be part of an award-winning team delivering critical water/wastewater infrastructureEngage in a full-service approach—design, construction management, program managementWork in an environment built on precision, sustainability, collaboration, and client satisfaction
