About The Organization Lowcountry Street Grocery is the flagship of our family of social enterprises conjointly dedicated to providing a more equitable, sustainable local food system for all. Lowcountry Street Grocery (LSG) began as a grassroots mobile farmers’ market intent on bringing “produce to the people” back in April 2017. LSG has now grown and diversified with two adjoining sister enterprises: Community Supported Grocery (CSG) and GroceryRx (GRx). Community Supported Grocery aims to connect small farmers and producers to neighbors all across the Charleston area, with a particular focus on local food equity and convenience via home delivery. GroceryRx is LSG’s comprehensive food is medicine program. GRx is both buoyed and leveraged by the immense community, inventory, and experience of LSG, with the expansive operations, logistics, volume, and geography of CSG. Under the wings of Lowcountry Street Grocery, both CSG & GRx advance our collective mission exponentially to sustainably and radically address systemic barriers to healthy food access, food insecurity, as well as local food proliferation. All outlets employ our “Robin Hood” pricing strategy that leverages revenue from high demand sales to address high community needs. We envision a local food system that supports all of our community members while simultaneously bolstering local food producers through radical, innovative systems that prove sustainability and resilience. Job Description We are seeking a passionate, self‑motivated individual to co‑develop and lead the management of operations for Community Supported Grocery (CSG). The Operations Manager will follow SOP’s, goal‑based KPI’s, and maintain strict impartiality and objectivity. CSG focuses on our community’s demand for access to small farmers, producers, and food system innovators with convenience; rounding out the traditional CSA format with more options, variance, and direction via a multi‑tiered price structure. CSG operating hours range from 6:00am – 7:00pm Mondays‑Fridays (and occasional weekends) or as further directed by management. This position requires experience in a fast‑paced environment, strong problem‑solving skills, superb communication, extreme attention to detail and strategic planning. The CSG Operations Manager (OM) focuses on the following areas: management of all on‑site operations structure and personnel for CSG, strategy and systems optimization, CSG customer experience (CX), immediate and long‑term growth of customer base and geographic scope. The CSG OM will oversee Supervisory & Coordinator staff, Associate staff, as well as daily B2B interactions. The CSG OM will report directly to the Director of Operations. Manager Responsibilities Manage day to day CSG operations and customer deliverables while maintaining good vibes and upholding company ethos. Manage assigned CSG Staff members including: scheduling, employee reviews, training, hiring & onboarding, and personnel budget. This includes holding staff accountable re: goals, assignments, job responsibilities. Oversee and/or coordinate inventory flowchart incl: Ordering, Buying, and Costing maintaining strict margins Receiving schedule & communication flow Storage, Organization, Forecasting & Planning Processing & Sorting, ensuring quality & CX value standards, FIFO, UF Reporting & Planning on Quality, Costing, Surplus, and AV Sales Channels Oversee daily operations across departments to ensure efficiency and productivity Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with leadership to develop short‑ and long‑term operational strategies. Manage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation. Strategize, develop, and implement an updated Operations Plan & SOP’s for CSG with growth goals, KPIs in mind and potentially using Columbia expansion as blueprint. Lead and mentor staff to promote professional growth and team performance. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and legal requirements. Evaluate and improve supply chain, inventory, and logistics processes. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce costs. Support implementation of technology and systems to enhance operational effectiveness. Ensure high‑quality standards across all CSG operations, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and quality to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Analyze data and customer feedback to identify trends and implement process improvements. Manage and report on FOH costing and budget including EOD Reporting, Invoicing and Spill Tab. Monitor team communication and oversee decisions, prioritizing SOPs & customer experience. Contribute to CSG Build, Menus, as well as Surplus and Add‑Value Sales Channels. Communicate with FOH staff regularly through daily line ups, production meetings and individual meetings as needed. Identify and communicate marketing opportunities, working closely with the Sales & Marketing team. Understand LSG/Lowcountry SC inventory in order to sell a variety of products with the ability to recommend products, pairings, and build customer‑facing materials. Build relationships and represent farmers and producers products in the best way possible with utmost respect. Support other LSG initiatives such as community outreach, mobile markets, GroceryRx, etc. Communicate with customers thoughtfully, with a focus on how to best offer unique services, exceeding customer needs. Assist in management of Human Resources and Disciplinary Protocol in adherence to company manuals/handbook. Other duties as assigned to meet business needs. Team Member Skills And Qualifications 5+ years of experience required in Operations and Management. Candidates with experience in local agriculture, local food systems, as well as food and beverage will be prioritized.> Able to take direction, work independently, and as a member of a team to be a force for good in the community. Background check required. Offer is contingent upon a cleared background check. Proficiency in all social media outlets is appreciated. Possess a love of people and a desire for excellent customer service. Possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude. Display good problem‑solving skills, while remaining flexible and decisive. Must possess a passion for clean, local food and telling the story behind the food and the producer. Good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing. Must conduct oneself in an honest, professional and respectful manner at all times. Ability to create effective working relationships with employees and the public and keep LSG a family friendly atmosphere. Ability to deal with conflict among employees or customers in a non‑threatening and redemptive way. Must be highly motivated, organized and able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Abide by all transportation rules and regulations. Must Obtain & Maintain a clean driving record and valid insurance. Physical Demands & Other Requirements Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Bending, stooping, walking and standing for long periods at a time. Must be able to ascend/descend stairs throughout the day. Must have reliable transportation, smartphone and laptop. Must have reliable transportation to and from work. Must be amenable to utilizing personal smartphone for work‑related apps, and communication with customers and teammates. Must be amenable to utilizing personal laptop for back of house management, communication, data entry and software/documents administration as needed.
