Job Description

The Communications & Public Relations Manager at One Carbon World in Edinburgh will develop and implement communication strategies to enhance brand visibility and support climate action. Responsibilities include creating engaging content, managing public events, ensuring consistent messaging, and handling crisis communication. The role
• To create and execute innovative public relations and brand communication strategies to enhance our brand visibility and reputation.
• To support our mission through creating and issuing engaging content across all media types including our social platforms. With a focus on educating the public, engaging in climate debates; building our reputation; and increasing engagement and interaction by others.
• To create and deliver, or support our participation in, public-facing events (podcasts, talks, UN events, webinars, etc.) to educate others on climate change, whilst raising brand awareness and building networks.
• To ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels by creating templates and key messages for use by all.
• To manage communication during crises or sensitive situations, ensuring our message is consistent, timely, and professional.
• To create and deliver internal messaging to continue to upskill and motivate staff, aligned with overall company goals.
• To report and review activities, to continually improve.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be organised and resourceful. They must be able to manage multiple priorities and present a professional image to stakeholders. The candidate should exercise good judgment, maintain confidentiality when required, collaborate well with others, and communicate clearly and effectively.

You will have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Environmental Sciences and Sustainability, Sustainable Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

• Creating a range of public-facing innovative content for a brand or organisation with a focus on sustainability.
• Brand building or PR, with a focus on raising awareness on sustainability.
• Project management and core business IT skills
• Working with high-profile clients; and as a supportive/flexible team player.
• Working at a fast-pace whilst consistently meeting deadlines
• Using strong creative and critical analytical skills, grasping quickly new concepts and embracing new ideas.
• Deploying excellent spoken and written communication skills, with impressive attention to detail.
• Demonstrating a high standard of professional behaviours, from collaboration to integrity.

Additional, desirable skills:
• Working on, or good knowledge of, the climate change agenda and the issues and organisations involved
• Using email marketing or social media management tools (e.g. Hootsuite, HubSpot).
• Creating and optimising paid ads across social media.
• Working for an international or not-for-profit organisation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £30,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
