• About our client

We are working with an investment fund dedicated to climate-focused investments, based in Abu Dhabi. They are actively seeking a key hire to lead climate impact and assessments, responsible for maintaining and driving the evolution and implementation of impact framework to support decision-making and the assessment of climate impact. What the job involves
- Lead the assessment of climate impact and emissions contribution of existing investments, as well as potential investments as part of the due diligence and investment process
- Support Investment Committee by providing recommendations on climate perspectives for potential deals
- Lead the development of guidance materials for the investment teams to ensure consistent high-quality investments in the context of climate and additionality impact
- Support engagement with investees
- Lead the development of expectation material for GPs
- Lead the assessment of climate risk and potential material financial impact on investments, providing input to investment team's due diligence and valuation process
- Lead the assessment of GPs' capability of managing climate risk impact on their respective funds
- Lead the assessment of E, S, and G risks of any investments
- Provide technical guidance to investment teams
- Build and coordinate a network of technical climate specialists to draw on
- Oversee other members of team in climate impact assessment and climate measurement and reporting roles
• Who we are looking for
- Strong knowledge and experience working in climate impact research, sustainable finance, or related field, preferably with experience integrating climate considerations into investment strategies
- Strong risk management background within a financial institution, preferably for an asset owner or asset manager, and can perform risk analytics and assessments related (but not limited) to climate, ESG, and other risk identification
- Experience leading initiatives in establishing ESG and Climate Risk approaches preferred
- Knowledge of key standards and frameworks for climate impact measurement and reporting
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be highly collaborative and a strong team player
- Fluency in English plus at least one other major language would be considered advantageous
- Experience in the Middle East region is a plus
