Job Description
The Environmental Investigation Agency is seeking a Climate Campaigner to focus on eliminating ozone-depleting substances in the cooling sector. Responsibilities include coordinating campaigns, advocacy on environmental policy, and managing multiple outputs. Candidates should have experience in environmental advocacy and a strong understanding of climate policy. The role offers hybrid working, requiring at least 2 days in the office, with travel needed. The position is permanent and based in the UK.

Through undercover investigations and hard‑hitting reports, we shine a light on transnational wildlife crime, illegal logging, deforestation, and the destruction of marine ecosystems.
Our work drives action to protect elephants, pangolins, tigers, and global forests from exploitation, while also tackling the devastating impacts of plastic pollution, bycatch, and commercial whaling. In the fight against climate change, we advocate for stronger enforcement of international agreements targeting super‑pollutants like HFCs, methane, and ozone‑depleting substances, pushing for a transition to sustainable cooling and clean energy.
By influencing policy, guiding enforcement agencies, and partnering with grassroots activists, we create real‑world change and drive systemic solutions to protect our planet for future generations.
Role: Climate Campaigner – F‑gas & Sustainable CoolingThis position is within EIA’s Climate Campaign team, focused on eliminating ozone‑depleting substances and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) in the cooling sector. Your responsibilities include:
Running key aspects of the F‑gas campaign, including coordinating an EU NGO partner group.Advocacy and campaigning on European and global environmental policy.Research and writing of publications, strategic planning, evaluation, information management and internal coordination.Managing multiple outputs simultaneously with strong communication and organisational skills.About YouExperience in advocacy and campaigning on European (including UK) and/or global environmental policy.Good understanding of climate change and UK, EU, and global climate policy.Proactive communicator with the ability to develop and maintain new contacts.Confidence and experience in effective communication within a hybrid working environment.Ability to digest and integrate technical, scientific, policy and legal information and present it simply to non‑expert audiences.Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant field.What We OfferLocation: Hybrid Working – at least 2 days in the office, with flexibility based on line manager agreement. Travel will be required.
Hours: 40 hours per week, including a paid hour for lunch.
Contract Type: Permanent.
Holiday: Annual leave package of 25 days annual leave (+ days off between Christmas and New Year) + Bank Holidays + a day off on your birthday, with an additional day per year up to a maximum of 29 days.
Benefits: 4‑8% pension contribution, mental health and wellbeing support programme.
Successful candidates will be invited to interview. Interviews will be held at our London Islington offices. If shortlisted, we will reimburse the cost of your London travel at standard class public transport rates with receipt.
