Environment America is hiring a Climate Advocacy Associate in Philadelphia, PA. The role focuses on advancing renewable energy and climate initiatives through public support, organizing events, generating media attention, lobbying government officials, and managing grassroots campaigns. PennEnvironment Climate Solutions Advocate
Are you eager to contribute to advancing renewable energy solutions against climate change? PennEnvironment seeks a motivated and skilled organizer to cultivate public support for climate initiatives and implement policies that facilitate our shift away from fossil fuels. This role encompasses driving campaigns for clean renewable energy, boosting energy efficiency, enhancing conservation efforts, and transitioning to sustainable transportation methods to safeguard our climate and mitigate air pollution.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Coalitions: Engage with a diverse array of organizations and stakeholders across Pennsylvania to endorse climate change solutions and advocate for policies that promote renewable energy.Organize Events and Engage Volunteers: Plan and host webinars, community events, and public meetings focused on climate change and renewable energy solutions. Recruit diverse organizations and members of the public to participate in these initiatives.Generate Media Attention: Coordinate media events and press conferences; author opinion pieces, press releases, and statements related to climate change and renewable energy; craft engaging social media content and grow a following for our campaigns.Lobby Government Officials: Establish relationships with elected officials, persuading them to support introduced climate solution policies at the state, local, and federal levels. Collaborate on strategies with allies in the Pennsylvania General Assembly and Congress, advocating for climate initiatives while defending against legislative challenges to current climate and renewable energy programs.Build Your Team: Play a crucial role in team formation by recruiting volunteers, interns, and permanent staff to enhance our efforts.Manage a Grassroots Campaign Office Each Summer: Operate a campaign office during the summer months, leading door-to-door fundraising efforts to support our initiatives and grow our organization and membership base. You will be responsible for meeting personal fundraising targets and managing a team of paid staff, with the possibility of working at different office locations as needed.Qualifications

The target annual salary for this entry-level role is $38,250-$39,500 in year one. Location
Preferred office location is Philadelphia, PA, though top candidates in Pittsburgh, PA will also be considered.
