The University of Pennsylvania's Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering is pleased to welcome applications for a teaching position as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. The department is interested developing and delivering new curriculum in the broad area of Energy and Sustainability. We seek individuals with exceptional promise for, or a proven record of, excellence in teaching.

We seek a dedicated, accomplished, and highly motivated, full-time instructor to develop and teach undergraduate and Master's-level courses related to engineering for energy applications, energy science and technology, energy markets, energy policy, environmental impacts of energy, and other areas.

Successful applicants embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. Members of our teaching faculty participate in departmental and school-level efforts to promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and to work closely with students to identify and address diversity challenges. As such, we request a discussion of candidates' experiences in establishing and maintaining supportive, inclusive environments for diverse student communities, and what plans they have for being involved in diversity efforts at Penn.

This is a 9-month academic year appointment. Appointees can elect to have their 9-month academic base salary paid over 9 or 12 months. Depending on academic need Lecturers and Senior Lecturers may have the opportunity to earn up to three months of additional compensation by teaching during the summer semester. Successive one-year reappointments are possible following the initial appointment, based on an annual review and the department's needs. After four consecutive appointments, lecturers can be considered for a Senior Lecturer position, which typically carries a multi-year appointment. Exceptionally qualified candidates might also be considered for direct appointment at the rank of Senior Lecturer. Qualifications
PhD in Chemical Engineering, or relevant discipline, or equivalent experience. Experience in energy science and technology is desirable.
