Job Description
The State of Virginia is hiring a full-time Capacity Building and Sustainability Coordinator in Richmond, VA. This role involves supporting violence intervention and prevention efforts by providing technical assistance to community organizations, enhancing their capacity for grant management, developing sustainability plans, and monitoring program success. About the position
The Department of Criminal Justice Service is seeking a collaborative and innovative team member to serve as a full-time Capacity Building and Sustainability Coordinator in Richmond, Virginia. This position will support the work of the agency around violence intervention and prevention in the Office of Safer Communities within the Division of Programs and Services. This position will be responsible for providing a variety of technical assistance and support to community-based organizations to enhance capacity for and sustainability of grant programs beyond the grant funding. Support may include the determination of readiness to apply for and successfully implement a grant-funded program; identification of performance measures; establishment of realistic goals, objectives, and timelines; development of sustainability plans; and assistance with data analysis, so the grantees can tell their story to enhance local support. Responsibilities
• Provide technical assistance to potential grantees, primarily nonprofit organizations, to assess readiness and capacity for programming and grant management to determine their ability to successfully implement a grant program.

• Monitor programs once underway to assist grantees with collecting data necessary to measure success and determining what, if any, programmatic changes are needed and for general compliance with grant requirements.

• Work with individual grantees to help them develop performance measures for their grants and build sustainability plans.

• Facilitate meetings at local level as needed.
,
• Assist in developing and implementing local strategic plans as needed.
,
• Assist with developing and revising publications and evaluating programs as applicable.

• Assist with keeping web content in relevant area current.
,
• Seek and develop outside grant opportunities.
Requirements
• Documented understanding of and experience in the field of nonprofit management or board development.
,
• Documented experience with community facilitation or related skill.
,
• Documented experience with strategic planning.
,
• Documented experience with grants, including grant development and reporting activities, or equivalent experience.
,
• Working knowledge of the criminal justice, juvenile justice, and child welfare systems.
,
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and cross culturally and independently implement new initiatives and projects.
,
• Ability to articulate, both orally and in written form, clear and concise program objectives and goals and summarize achievements of programs in reports and other documents as requested.

• Documented experience working as an active, contributing team member as well as an independent and self-motivated employee.
,
• Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines, handle multiple assignments and changing priorities, and ensure timeliness and quality of completed assignments.
Nice-to-haves
• Demonstrated skills and experience in juvenile justice, community corrections, or victim services programs.

• Demonstrated knowledge of criminal justice intervention and prevention work.
,
• Familiarity with relevant local and statewide prevention, intervention, and enforcement policies or practices.

• Experience with research on root cause of firearms violence or intervention and prevention of firearms violence.
Benefits
• The anticipated starting salary range is $75,000 to $85,000.
