Welcome to Environmental Design! We’re hiring a Business Development Manager to join our team remotely in Northern Illinois with a strong understating of the Chicagoland area. In this role will focus on building and nurturing relationships with potential clients, expanding market presence, and driving sales growth across that area.

We are a company that transplants giant trees across the USA and abroad. We also supply and install large specimen trees and we custom grow for large projects. We are expanding our team and looking for a Business Development Manager with a background in horticulture to help drive growth and strategic initiatives in Illinois and neighboring states.

What will you be doing:
• Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships, and direct clients.
• Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, growers, and industry professionals, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
• Market Research: Conduct thorough market research to understand regional trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape in California’s horticultural market.
• Sales Strategy: Develop and implement targeted sales strategies, including lead generation, proposal development, contract negotiation, and closing deals.
• Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of tree sales, and tree transplanting technologies and solutions. Effectively communicate benefits to potential clients.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Western Vice President to align business strategies and ensure seamless service delivery.
• Networking: Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking meetings to promote the company’s brand and offerings.
• Reporting: Track and report on business development activities, sales performance, and market insights to senior leadership.

This job is for you if you have:
• Experience: 3-5 years of business development or sales experience preferably in Horticulture or relatable field.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degrees or certifications in business or horticultural sciences are a plus.
• Sales Skills: Proven ability to generate leads, develop sales strategies, and close deals in a competitive market.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to drive business decisions.
• Self-Motivated: Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Travel: Willingness to travel within Illinois and neighboring states as needed for client meetings, trade shows, and business development activities.
• Experience working with landscape architects, landscape designers, or landscapers in Illinois.
