Job Description

Hays is seeking a Biodiversity Planner in Australia to lead and support environmental planning projects, providing specialist advice and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. The role involves developing strategies, engaging stakeholders, and mentoring teams. Candidates should have expertise in biodiversity or environmental planning and strong project management skills. This position offers a collaborative workplace focused on sustainability and innovation, with a salary of A$54–A$55 per hour.
Your New Company

You’ll be part of a collaborative team focused on delivering impactful planning projects that support the community and the natural environment.

Your New Role

As a Biodiversity Planner, you’ll provide specialist environmental and biodiversity planning advice while leading moderate-to-complex projects. You’ll be the technical expert guiding your team in delivering integrated planning outcomes and ensuring compliance with legislative, policy, and business requirements.

Your work will involve:
• Leading and supporting environmental and biodiversity planning projects and external consultants.
• Developing key strategies and policy relating to environmental and biodiversity planning.
• Driving high-performance and continuous improvement within your team.
• Engaging in stakeholder consultation, representing the organisation in community and business forums.
• Acting as a department delegate, providing professional advice to internal and external stakeholders.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you’ll bring:
• Significant expertise in biodiversity planning, environmental planning, or strategic planning.
• Experience leading complex environmental projects and mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong project management skills, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local environmental legislation.
• A talent for stakeholder engagement, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Adaptability and leadership in responding to shifting policies and emergent circumstances.
• A degree qualification in a relevant field.
• A current C Class Driver’s Licence
