Job Description

SCS Global Services is seeking a Sustainable Seafood Chain of Custody Auditor based in the Northeast US. This contract position involves traveling to client locations for audits related to MSC, ASC, and RFM certification standards. Responsibilities include audit coordination, conducting assessments, maintaining client relationships, and submitting reports. Candidates should have relevant education and experience, with strong organizational skills and proficiency in business software.
Auditor must reside in the Northeast Region of the United States of America.

Overview

The Sustainable Seafood Chain of Custody Auditor is a contract position, working independently or in teams. The auditor travels to client offices, processing plants, and consumer-facing organizations to assess practices and systems relative to the MSC, ASC & RFM certification standards. Assessments involve document review, employee and contractor interviews, and on-site evaluation of field activities. Detailed assessment reports must be written and submitted on time. SCS provides ongoing training.

• Marine Stewardship Council Chain of Custody (MSC)
• Aquaculture Stewardship Council Chain of Custody (ASC)
• Responsible Fisheries Management Chain of Custody (RFM)

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Audit Coordination
• Schedule and confirm audit date with client
• Prepare and send client audit plan according to protocols
• Book travel, hotel and transportation according to company policy, and submit expense reports
• Audit Services
• Adhere to all quality and code of conduct standards
• Conduct audits using applicable checklists, forms, and tools
• Maintain positive client relationships and respond to all client inquiries and concerns
• Submit complete and accurate audit reports within established timelines
• Ensure thorough client records are maintained

1 Billable travel means travel for the purposes that generate revenue for SCS (e.g., conducting audits). 2 non-billable travel means travel for the purposes that do not generate revenue for SCS (e.g., conferences, trainings, conducting witness assessments, etc.).
• Attend trainings to maintain qualification to conduct audits; maintain training records
• Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable regulations and standards

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental or biological science, marine biology, business,

economics, or technical program with two years’ work experience in any of the following:

seafood or fisheries industry, food industry, supply chain management, science, traceability,

policy development; or
• Master’s degree or equivalent in business, economics, environmental or biological science, or

technical program; or
• 2-4 years’ work experience applicable to the description above
• Complete fluency in English and work experience that involves professional written

communication
• Strong organization, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
• Proficient with business software including Outlook, Word and, Excel
• Strong attention to detail, customer service, and teamwork orientation
• Ability to take the initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in

a changing environment
• Ability to work in the US and abroad as needed
• ISO training certification or willingness to complete the ISO training offered by SCS
• Language skill in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, French or Japanese is highly desirable
• Audit experience is highly desirable

Physical Requirements
• This position is an office-based job primarily, with occasional travel to client sites. Ability to

sit/stand at a computer station for 6+ hours/day, ability to travel via private/public

transportation and carry luggage, ability to walk and stand for 2+ hours/day when auditing.

Must be able to speak and listen to employees and customers virtually and in person.

Work Environment
• Most of the time will be spent in the office (Home Office).
• Marine and food facilities during audits, and auditor assessment activities
