Western Carolina University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Construction Management for a tenure-track position starting August 2025. Overview
The Kimmel School of Construction Management at Western Carolina University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Construction Management beginning August 2025. This is a nine-month tenure-track position. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise students, be involved in extra-curricular student engagement activities, develop a sustainable program of research and scholarship, and fulfill normal institutional service duties. Responsibilities
• Teach across a broad range of construction management topics, including but not limited to construction materials and methods, estimating, scheduling, project management, construction codes and documents, sustainability, construction law, etc. * Develop and maintain a program of research and scholarship that engages students, especially undergraduate students
• Advise students and mentor them in their academic and professional pursuits
• Participate in extra-curricular student engagement activities and support the intellectual and practical lives of students and other stakeholders of the School, College, University, and Construction Industry
• Fulfill normal institutional service duties, including departmental and college-level service and committee work
Qualifications
• A PhD or equivalent terminal degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, architecture, architectural engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution
• Minimum of three (3) years of U.S. project-based construction industry experience, upper-level management experience in the construction industry, relevant professional registration and/or certifications (PE, CPC, PMP, PSP, etc. ), or university-level teaching experience including online/distance education
