Job Description

Position Summary
The University of Georgia Department of Chemistry (chem.uga.edu) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in MATERIALS CHEMISTRY , beginning August 1, 2025, at the level of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR . This position is part of the University of Georgia "President's Interdisciplinary Faculty Hiring Initiative in Sustainability," which includes a faculty cluster in "Sustainable Materials." Therefore, research synergy and collaborations across the STEM disciplines will be encouraged. The candidate will exhibit a commitment to teaching organic, inorganic, or materials chemistry at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Candidates will be expected to develop a nationally recognized, extramurally funded independent research program, that includes working on large, multidisciplinary grant proposals.
Additional Requirements Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
1 to 2 years of postdoctoral experience is desirable.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
The successful candidate will have expertise in materials. Particular areas of interest include but are not limited to biomass characterization, biomass conversion, biorefinery process and product development, value-added biobased products and the circular bioeconomy, or polymers from renewable resources.
