Assistant Controller

Eco Material Technologies is seeking an Assistant Controller in South Jordan, UT, to provide accounting support for logistics and utility operations, oversee financial processes, and ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley. Key responsibilities include financial analysis, budgeting, cost control, and collaboration with department heads. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Accounting, preferred CPA certification, and at least 2 years of accounting experience.
Eco Material Technologies is a leading producer of sustainable cement alternatives in the U.S. It is the nation’s largest marketer and manager of fly ash, with the industry's only true national footprint of logistics networks and distribution channels. The Company also provides mission-critical utility services, including operations support, waste disposal, and environmental remediation.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Controller will provide accounting support for logistics, inventory, utility service operations, new Oracle ERP implementation, monthly financial close process and Sarbanes Oxley internal control documentation and support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Comply with Eco Material Safety Policies and Procedures

· Analyze, and review transactional detail, financial statements and reports for applicable profit centers.

· Provide detailed financial analysis and commentary for profit centers and business units.

· Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).

· Lead the annual budgeting process, including forecasting and variance analysis for applicable profit centers.

· Collaborate with department heads to establish and monitor budgets.

· Provide rolling forecasts to support strategic planning.

· Analyze cost structures and identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.

· Implement and monitor cost control measures.

· Support senior management with strategic planning initiatives.

· Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to inform decision-making.

· Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.

· Develop, document and maintain robust internal controls (Sarbanes Oxley) to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.

· Ensure compliance with accounting standards, laws, and regulations.

· Work with auditors as needed.

· Act as a liaison between the finance department and logistics departments.

· Stay updated with the latest financial technologies and best practices.

· Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices

· Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

· Proficiency in financial software and systems

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting

· Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is strongly preferred

· Big four accounting experience is preferred

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting
