Job Description

Des Moines Area Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for Environmental Science for the Fall Semester 2026/Spring Semester 2027. The role involves teaching courses, developing instructional strategies, and fostering a positive learning environment. Candidates must have a Master's in Biology with specific coursework in Environmental Biology. This position is based in Iowa and requires legal eligibility to work in the U.S.

Job Summary


Adjunct Environmental Science Instructor for Fall Semester 2026 and Spring Semester 2027.








Essential Functions


Teaches assigned courses in accordance with course competencies and syllabi. Develops and/or utilizes a variety of instructional strategies, techniques and delivery methods designed to meet the individual learning styles of students. Fosters a safe and civil learning environment. Informs students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies. Monitors, evaluates, and documents student attendance, progress and competency attainment.








Required Qualifications


Master of Biology including two Environmental Biology courses or any master’s with 12 graduate semester credits in Biology including two Environmental Biology courses.


Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds.
