Job Description

About the position

The Working Lands Climate Corps Member position is part of the American Climate Corps initiative, aimed at engaging young adults in technical skills training related to climate-smart agriculture and forestry practices. Members will participate in a six-month immersive program that focuses on enhancing the capacity of organizations to promote sustainable agricultural practices, particularly for underserved producers. This role involves hands-on training in diversified vegetable production and cattle operations, contributing to climate resilience initiatives.

Responsibilities
• Complete the Farmer In Training Program, a full-time, six-month immersion in farming and climate resilience initiatives.

• Improve the capacity of organizations to disseminate and demonstrate climate-smart agriculture and forestry practices.

• Conduct field days, create outreach materials, and provide training specifically for underserved producers.
,
• Receive hands-on training in diversified vegetable production and/or cattle and irrigated hayfield operations.

Requirements
• Be at least 17 years old at the start of service.

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent or agree to obtain a high school diploma prior to using the earned education award.
,
• Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
,
• Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria.
