Description

The UCLA Water Technology Research (WaTeR) Center is seeking an experienced technician/engineer with expertise in the design, assembly, and operation of small reverse osmosis (RO) systems for brackish water treatment and desalination. The WaTeR Center focuses on the design and automation of wellhead RO systems for distributed water purification and desalting. This position requires knowledge of RO systems operation, monitoring, and control systems (e.g., PLC and LabView), interaction with component vendors and system fabricators, as well as laboratory and field tests of system components.

Compensation and Benefits
• Salary range: (60,000.00 - )95,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Skills
• Knowledge of RO systems operation and monitoring

Responsibilities
• Contribute to the design and field deployment of small new RO/NF systems (2,000 - 10,000 gallons/day)
• Collaborate on the development and deployment of membrane-based separation systems (e.g., MF, UF, NF, RO)
• Oversee and manage 3-4 field water treatment and desalination systems
• Assist in preparing reports on system operations and interface with State certified laboratories and regulators
• Provide systems support for WaTeR Center members

Qualifications
• Advanced degree in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in the design and operation of membrane-based water treatment/desalination systems with capacities of 1,000 - 40,000 gallons/day
• Familiarity with process control systems, including LabView, is a strong asset

• Proven experience in the development and deployment of membrane-based water treatment systems
• Familiarity with operational and control systems in water treatment applications
