The Water Environment Federation is hiring a Water Sustainability Specialist in Alexandria, VA. This role focuses on advancing circular water economy principles and developing strategic initiatives for utilities, industry, and regulatory bodies. Candidates should have a degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of experience in managing projects and partnerships. The position involves collaboration with various professionals to promote water sustainability.
Job Description: The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization of more than 30,000 individual members and 75 affiliated Member Associations (MAs) representing water quality professionals around the world. As the Manager, Circular Water Economy, you will work closely with the team to advance the principles of the circular water economy and solidify WEF's position as a leading organization in this space.
About the Team: WEF leverages the collective knowledge of its global network of members and member associations to drive progress toward a life free of water challenges. As a member of the WEF team, you will have the opportunity to work with scientists, engineers, regulators, academics, utility managers, plant operators, and other professionals who share your passion for water sustainability.
• Develop and lead strategic initiatives that promote the adoption of circular water economy principles across utilities, industry, and regulatory bodies.
• Work closely with WEF technical communities and volunteers to develop publications, training materials, and events that advance WEF's circular water economy goals.
• Establish and strengthen partnerships between companies, utilities, government agencies, and research institutions to facilitate knowledge-sharing and collaborative opportunities.
Requirements: We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in water, environmental sustainability, circular economy, or related sectors. A bachelor's degree in Economics, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Biology, Water Resources, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 5+ years of professional experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects, partnerships, and program development. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to develop strategic recommendations based on industry trends and stakeholder needs.
