Job Description
Brimbank City Council is seeking a Full-Time Urban Forest and City Greening Planner to enhance urban greening and protect significant trees. The role involves strategy development, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with the Tree Services team. We are currently seeking a Full Time Permanent staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.
The role
Are you a self-motivated, value oriented individual who thrives to build a healthy communities and resilient environment?
Reporting to the Public Space Coordinator, we are seeking a committed and skilled individual who can bring their skills and experience for:
• Developing and implementing strategies that enhance urban forest and city greening.
• Establishing and managing systems and processes to protect the City's privately owned Significant Trees.
• Providing advice to stakeholders on the protection of trees, and how to achieve Council's goals to expand canopy cover and green infrastructure.
• Work closely with the Tree Services team to plan and prioritise future tree planning initiaitves.
• Presenting council in external working groups such as Greening the West.
To be considered you will have:
• Tertiary level qualifications in, urban planning, landscape architecture, or a closely related discipline; or less formal qualifications with significant/demonstrated professional experience in the field.
• Minimum five years' experience in development and implementation of strategies, policy and plans, as relevant to the role.
• Highly developed interpersonal and engagement skills with ability to liaise with variety of stakeholders, including highly developed conflict resolution skills.
• Current Victorian Driver's License
• Current Working with Children Check
• Local government experience is desirable.
