Job Description
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is hiring for multiple seasonal positions at Trap Pond State Park in Laurel, DE. Roles include Campground Supervisor and Special Events Coordinator, focusing on campground management and event facilitation. Introduction
Trap Pond was once the site of a large freshwater wetland and still hosts the country's northernmost natural stand of baldcypress trees. The pond was created in the late 1700s to power a sawmill used in harvesting the baldcypress.

Summary Statement
A variety of seasonal Positions are available at Trap Pond State Park:
Campground Supervisor: ($18.00) - responsible for overseeing all aspects of the campground at Trap Pond State Park to include hiring, scheduling, retail management, end of day financial reports, reconciling revenue reports, reporting to park managers and maintenance, assisting employees and visitors, and maintaining safe environment in the campground. The Campground Supervisor will report to the Park Administrators.
Special Events Coordinator: ($18.50)- responsible for booking and facilitating rentals, events, and programs through the Baldcypress Nature Center and day use areas at Trap Pond State Park.
Duties may vary for each facility. Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions. Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled.
Essential Functions
Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. • May develop and facilitate educational programs for schools and special events.
• Manages and oversees the Campground Store, including but not limited to keeping an inventory, ordering supplies, and handling sales.
• Coordinates with vendors, staff and volunteers to meet the needs of campground residents.
• Provides customer services by explaining regulations, answering visitor requests, needs and complaints, and providing information about the park and surrounding areas.
• Supervises and supports the campground registrar booth.
• Works with Volunteer Coordinator to oversee Camp Hosts and makes sure they complete their daily tasks.
• Updates the Park Manager and Maintenance Supervisor of all issues that occur in the campground.
• Inspects campground sites and routinely to determine necessity of repairs or maintenance and reports issues to Park Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
• Provide excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
• Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
• Maintain a positive attitude.
• Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Responsibilities

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Campground Supervisor
• One year experience in interpreting rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• One year experience in office operations and functions such as operating office machines, handling incoming and outgoing mail, postal and shipping services, answering phones, directing calls and taking messages; file maintenance; maintaining and updating supplies.
• One year experience in cash handling, writing receipts.
• One year experience using Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, and Publisher.
• Six months experience of supervising staff or volunteers.
• Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Special Events Coordinator
• Six months experience coordinating special events.
• Six months experience in using standard computer software programs for work processing, spreadsheets, or databases.
• Six months experience in cash handling, writing receipts.
• Knowledge of contract management and control which includes compliance with terms of contracts.
• Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
