The Utah Transit Authority is hiring a Transit Bus Operator in Mountain Green, UT. No CDL experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided. Join our team as a Transit Bus Operator, where you'll be the face of our organization! We prioritize safety and outstanding customer service, and we are eager to train the best candidates for this vital role. You will receive comprehensive training on operating passenger buses, ensuring the safety of customers and equipment. Your responsibilities will include performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, communicating with the dispatch center, assisting customers with inquiries, collecting passenger fares, and adhering to operational guidelines and procedures. Pay Rate: $20.00/hr during training (up to 11 weeks). After training, earn $25.16/hr with guaranteed pay increases every six months for four years, reaching up to $29.41/hr.
Minimum Qualifications
• Completion of our Paid Bus Operator Training/Certification Program, including passing all required exams.
Experience:
• Minimum one year in a customer service role demonstrating problem-solving abilities.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Safe driving record with a valid driver license; no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
• No convictions for DUI within the past 10 years.
• Familiarity with the Wasatch Front is preferred but not required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card (paid by the organization).
• Pass the written Class B CDL test, including Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement tests, before starting the paid training program.
• Strong communication skills with supervisors and customers, both orally and over the radio.
• Ability to read and understand training materials and operating manuals.
• Prepare clear written reports of incidents and accidents.
• Safely operate all passenger buses.
• Consistently report for assigned shifts on time and meet schedule demands.
• Perform physical tasks, including walking, lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, and sitting or standing for long periods.
• This position requires regular and predictable attendance.
