Job Description
CBRE is seeking a Sustainability Specialist in Denver, CO, to oversee the implementation of sustainability strategies for investor clients. The role involves providing expert advice, managing sustainability data, and enhancing client engagement. Key responsibilities include training, quality assurance of services, and contributing to sustainability objectives. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and 8-12 years of relevant experience, particularly in energy efficiency and client services.
About the Role:
CBRE Property Management has developed a differentiated service offer around sustainability to ensure the changing needs and expectations of our clients are catered for as a part of a fully integrated management solution.
Acting as a key conduit between our clients and operational teams, you will be responsible for providing oversight of the implementation of our investor clients' sustainability strategy, delivering advice and guidance that leads to meaningful improvements in sustainability performance and engagement, as well as preparing summary updates and reports in support of our clients' business objectives.
As a key role in our Property Management sustainability team, you will work closely with the AMS Head of Sustainability for Property Management, the wider PM Sustainability team, and our Operations teams whether in centralized or field locations.
What You'll Do:
• Act as the Sustainability SME supporting Property Management market and central platform teams, providing exemplary client service, internal training, and support to your Property Management colleagues to ensure all are engaged in service delivery.
• Oversee, and quality assure, the provision of sustainability services to Property Management clients and provide expert sustainability advice to internal and external stakeholders.
• Actively input into the management of CBRE's sustainability reporting platform with all internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage the collection and validation of client sustainability data to maximize data coverage and accuracy.
• Routinely present at corporate and client meetings to increase sustainability awareness and engagement.
• Contribute to the implementation of appropriate sustainability objectives, targets and improvement programs for the AMS PM business.
• Raise the profile of Property Management in the wider industry through coordinating representation on key industry working groups including, but not limited to, the USGBC, ULI, IREM, and BOMA.
• Oversee and manage appropriate training programs to ensure employees are competent regarding their sustainability knowledge and duties.
• Provide oversight and support to the PM Sustainability team in their provision of sustainability information, advice, and guidance to the wider teams and to their client portfolios.
• Work closely with our Market Leadership and Client Solutions teams to support operational growth in line with business objectives, actively engaging in the development of pitch material and participation in the pitch and prospect meetings.
• Keep abreast of changes in legislation, best practice, and wider sustainability trends and priorities to ensure the ongoing provision of best in sector advice and thought leadership.
What You'll Need:
• Bachelor's Degree preferred with 8-12 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Experience developing and implementing solutions to improve the sustainability performance of assets and funds, particularly as related to energy efficiency and net zero targets
• Experience working in client services, demonstrating excellent communication skills, service delivery and maintaining our position as trusted advisor and critical friend
• Experience operating in a complex, commercial environment
• Experience working with sustainability certifications, e.g. ENERGY STAR, LEED O&M, BREEAM In Use, WELL H&S
• Ability to understand and analyze information to recommend informed solutions to client problems
• Able to influence third parties to achieve desired sustainability outcomes
• Understanding of key commercial real estate sustainability issues affecting businesses
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong attention to detail
• Experience in the use of a range of reporting tools and platforms, e.g. Deepki, ENERGY STAR, Measurabl, Cambio, MS Power BI or Tableau
• Real estate operations experience and an understanding of the wider roles of property managers and engineers would be a distinct advantage
• Knowledge of U.S. regulatory requirements affecting commercial property management, including city & state benchmarking and building performance standards, would be a distinct advantage
• Background in energy engineering would be a distinct advantage
CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Sustainability Specialist position is $120,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Sustainability Specialist position is $130,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
