Job Description

ADNOC - Distribution is seeking a Sustainability Specialist in Abu Dhabi, UAE, to support sustainability strategies and initiatives. Responsibilities include conducting sustainability analysis, representing the company at events, educating stakeholders, contributing to sustainability reporting, and improving sustainability performance. The role involves collaboration with various teams to enhance compliance and promote sustainability practices within the organization.

Job purpose
Contribute to providing the necessary support to the line with regards to sustainability strategy, policies, procedures, initiatives, and qualitative and quantitative criteria; work closely with the line to update the team knowledge of timely information on company sustainability roadmap, concepts, etc., to ensure timely and desired contributions towards sustainability.



Job specific accountabilities

Sustainability analysis


Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of empirical data with particular focus on environmental data; i.e., emissions, flaring, carbon, water and waste including life-cycle analysis (LCA), etc.
Calculate, review and analyse the greenhouse gas (GHG) / carbon emissions inventories, emission levels, flaring data, energy consumption, etc., in line with the sustainability criteria for the company.


Sustainability communications


Represent the company in sustainability management events and sessions at ADNOC, local authorities and ADNOC Sustainability Steering Committee, as required.
Educate, train, discuss and communicate with related employees and stakeholders to ensure understanding of the company sustainability policy, framework, goals, initiatives, etc.
Maintain and update sustainability policies, procedures, communications, forms and related materials which enable communicating and adhering to the function directions.
Participate in the development and implementation of sustainability and HSE educational programs, and training sessions, with a view to promoting employee awareness of hazards and effects of conditions with which they are in regular contact and how their actions can impact the community and environment.


Sustainability reporting


Contribute to data gathering for different sustainability reports to ensure timely submission by the concerned function or team.
Record the sustainability status updates and milestones achievements in the related logs to ensure proper tracking.


Sustainability practices


Facilitate the identification of opportunities and initiatives to improve sustainability performance within the company and drive prioritizing implementation strategies to achieve targets.
Assess the sustainability performance for company units and functions in line with sustainability plans, audits or calendar.
Contribute to developing systems, procedures and guidelines with defined accountabilities and responsibilities.
Monitor the implementation of sustainability procedures and practices to ensure the desired level of compliance by the related parties.
Work cooperatively with ADNOC Group of Companies to ensure that company sustainability goals and objectives are effectively managed and delivered.


Minimum qualification
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry or Engineering



Minimum experience, knowledge & skills

8 years of experience, including at least 3 years as a Sustainability Specialist
Understanding of sustainability strategies and management systems
Knowledge of international sustainability standards, codes and work practices
Hands-on sustainability reporting, performance assessments, and analysis
Awareness of product stewardship and responsible sourcing
Fluency in English language; written and oral
