Job Description

Idaho State University is seeking a Sustainability Manager/Coordinator to lead and oversee its Sustainability Program. This on-campus role involves collaborating with various university departments to develop sustainability initiatives, track progress on goals, and support environmental stewardship. Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability Department the Sustainability Manager/Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of Idaho State University’s Sustainability Program. This position partners with academic, research, operations, and student groups and units to develop initiatives and activities related to environmental stewardship and sustainability. This position is responsible for facilitating and tracking the progress of sustainability goals for the university.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate sustainability initiatives within the Campus Operations Division by working directly with Maintenance and Operations, Custodial, University Events and Parking and TransportationLead the development of short and long-term planning for renewable energy, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, resource conservation and waste minimizationPartner with Parking and Transportation Services to determine the feasibility of expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the adoption of electric vehicles and cartsCollect and analyze data for utilization in the Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) and Idaho State University Sustainability Action PlanCreate and maintain a public facing sustainability dashboardDevelop materials for the campus community that highlight sustainability initiatives and practicesPartner with the ASISU to develop sustainability initiatives across campus that directly serve students and foster their engagement in sustainability behaviorsSupport existing environmental initiatives and serve as a campus educational resource for sustainability information, best practices, data and standardsAssess and analyze institutional policies and process to identify areas in which efficiencies can be created to further the organization’s commitment to sustainabilityPrepare presentations and reports for leadership and other key stakeholdersCoordinate the Sustainability Council and administer the Student Sustainability FundSupervise and coordinate the work of student interns

Minimum Qualifications

Sustainability Coordinator:

Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience working on environmental or sustainability programs and projectsIn lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, ten years of training and experience in sustainability programsExcellent organizational and communication skillsSustainability Manager:

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as engineering, sustainability, environmental policy, environmental scienceFour or more years of experience coordinating sustainability programsExcellent organizational and communication skillsPreferred Qualifications

Master's DegreeKnowledge of green building standards and sustainable construction practicesExperience in higher educationExperience in managing environmental programs or outdoor education programs in a community or academic settingExperience in planning long-term strategic initiativesExperience preparing STARS reportsExperience managing a Sustainability Action Plan

Salary range will be as follows per year,commensurate with education and experience:
