Renfrewshire Council are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to play a leading role in the Council's journey to Net Zero. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future strategic direction of Renfrewshire Council and its partners in relation to our agreed sustainability and climate change ambitions.
Located within the Environment, Housing and Infrastructure Service, as Sustainability Lead Officer (Strategy) you will lead on developing and coordinating a range of policy activities to support the response to climate change, which is recognised as a key corporate and wider partnership priority.
Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, you will work closely with senior managers to co-ordinate the development of a Climate Adaptation Plan for Renfrewshire and other relevant plans and policies, contributing to their monitoring and evaluation.
You will actively develop and strengthen effective cross-sectoral relationships across the Glasgow City Region, Scotland and UK, maximising the effectiveness of joint working which supports the delivery of the Council's climate ambitions, identifying opportunities for sharing learning and collaborating on projects.
Educated to degree or equivalent level, it is essential you have experience of operating at a management level in a large public sector or a similar diverse organisation and substantial experience of leading projects and effective cross service collaboration. You must have effective communication skills and highly developed written, verbal presentation and interpersonal skills.
It is essential that you have knowledge of the legislative and policy environment in relation to the climate emergency. It is desirable that you have experience of leading successful climate emergency programmes or outcome-focussed programmes in a similar field.
