Parkhurst Dining is seeking a Sustainability Intern to support campus-wide sustainability initiatives at their Meadville, PA location. Responsibilities include promoting food waste reduction, converting packaging to compostable alternatives, and enhancing transparency of food systems. The role requires strong social media skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Job Summary
Parkhurst Dining is looking for a student committed to improving food systems on campus. The Sustainability Intern will assist on advancing campus wide sustainability initiatives. Potential responsibilities may include designing campus campaigns in collaboration with the social media intern, increasing transparency of food systems on campus, designing and implementing structures to build relationships between students and food service staff.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
• Work closely with the Parkhurst management team by calling out standard operating procedures that could be adjusted to be more environmentally friendly.
• Actively promote food waste reduction and compostable collection for all dining facilities.
• Work on converting all on-the-go packaging to compostable alternatives
• Assist with organizing and communicating local and sustainable luncheons or dinners as part of the sustainable development goals integration.
Minimum Requirements
• Strong understanding and desire to communicate via social media
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to prioritize work
• Problem-solving aptitude
• Strong computer skills, MS Office, Excel, Outlook and Access
