Job Description
The University of Nebraska Lincoln seeks a Sustainability Coordinator to support education, outreach, and data gathering for sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities include engaging with the campus community, managing sustainability programs, tracking data for AASHE STARS, and assisting with grant activities. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and experience in sustainability initiatives. Strong communication and networking skills are essential.

As a Sustainability Coordinator, you will:
• Support Office of Sustainability education, outreach, and data gathering activities through participation in tabling and outreach events, engaging with student groups and other departments, and waste audits.
• Serve as a resource and provide assistance to the campus community regarding sustainability best practices and foster sustainable development across campus through coordination and collaboration with various campus units.
• Support the management of various Office of Sustainability programs and initiatives aligned with campus sustainability goals to promote progress toward meeting these goals.
• Work independently and collaboratively to design and implement processes for regular collection, tracking, analysis, and reporting of data to AASHE STARS (Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System) to position UNL as a leader in sustainability in higher education.
• Assist in the creation of and upkeep of external communications such as social media, newsletter, inquiries, press releases, and the departmental website.
• Steward grant-related activities by conducting research on available funding opportunities, preparing grant applications, and supporting implementation and reporting.
• Assist in managing strategies to integrate sustainability principles and policies into the operational functions of the University and incorporate these principles into short and long-term planning.
• Support the implementation of University-wide sustainability initiatives and infusion of sustainability into community culture through the integration of education, research, and University facilities and operations.
• Serve as University Operations liaison and support efforts to further integrate sustainable operations into campus operations and activities.
• Oversee the creation and continuous update of a sustainability dashboard that will serve as a means of communicating progress on achieving campus-wide sustainability goals.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Business, Energy, or other related fields of study or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience working with sustainability initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated public speaking ability.
• Excellent team building, relationship-building, and networking skills. Self-starting and committed to continuous improvement.
• Ability to make decisions and creatively problem solve in ambiguous situations and changing circumstances. Ability to drive a university vehicle.
• Ability to synthesize complex topics into simple messages to be shared with the campus community through a variety of means.
• Word processing, spreadsheet, and database software program skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices and policies.
• Ability to comply with safety policies and procedures and wear all proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
• Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions and communicate effectively.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Successful project management experience related to education and outreach initiatives.
• Grant writing and implementation.
• Experience working with sustainability in a large organization or higher ed institute.
• Experience with Greenhouse Gas Inventory and other sustainability reporting.
• Experience working with or supervising undergraduate students.
• Graphic design, photography, and/or videography experience.
Posted Salary: Salary commensurate with experience.
