Job Description
CUBE at IITM Research Park in Chennai seeks two Surface Water & Hydrology Specialists to support urban flooding and environmental projects in India. Candidates should have a B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering, with 5-10 years of experience in hydrologic modelling and GIS tools. Responsibilities include modelling, flood studies, report preparation, and client coordination. The position is full-time and requires in-person work.
CUBE – Centre for Urbanization, Buildings & Environment (IITM Research Park) invites applications for two positions of Surface Water / Hydrology Experts to support the Environment & Sustainability (E&S) Vertical. These roles will contribute to CUBE’s work on urban flooding, watershed studies, stormwater systems, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, climate resilience, and environmental engineering projects undertaken for Government Departments, Institutions, and public agencies across India.
QUALIFICATIONS
B.E. / B.Tech with M.E. / M.Tech in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering.
5–10 years of relevant technical experience. Strong skills in H&H modelling (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE, InfoWorks etc.).
Proficiency in GIS tools (ArcGIS / QGIS).
Strong analytical, writing, and presentation abilities. Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hydrologic & hydraulic modelling (1D / 2D).
Peak-flow estimation, drainage stormwater design.
Flood modelling and resilience studies.
Integration of GIS analytics with modelling outputs. Supporting EIA, environmental planning and compliance studies.
Preparation of technical reports, drawings, and presentations. Coordination with clients, project teams, and field units.
