Job Description
Ever-Green Energy Inc is seeking a Stationary Engineer for on-site operations in Oberlin, OH. Responsibilities include maintaining and operating plant equipment such as boilers and chillers, ensuring safety compliance, and responding to emergencies. Candidates should have a high school diploma, relevant technical experience, and strong communication skills. Preferred qualifications include a State Boiler License and experience with automation systems.
Ever-Green Energy is looking for a team member responsible for all activities related to the operation and maintenance of the plant while on duty under the direction of the General Manager and/or Chief Engineer. Areas of responsibility include boilers, hot water converters, heat pumps, and associated heat recovery equipment, chillers and related auxiliary equipment, and energy distribution systems. Minimum requirements to be successful in this role:
• High School diploma or equivalent with strong technical education related to the maintenance and operation of boiler/chiller plant equipment and systems.
• At least 2-years’ experience in the operation and troubleshooting of gas boilers, variable speed drives, pumps, centrifugal chillers and heat pumps, and related equipment.
• Available to respond to after-hours emergency.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Broad technical knowledge of the maintenance and operation of boiler/chiller systems and services.
• Demonstrates a high degree of independence, self-initiation, and self-management; strong oral and written communications; leadership and supervisory skills.
• Hands-on computer skills in PLC and automated plant control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, especially process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), utilize information technology equipment, and maintain records.
• Willing and able to maintain property and equipment under your responsibility in a clean and orderly manner, and safeguarded while under your control.
Preferred requirements:
• State Boiler License.
• Experience working with distributed control or automation systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operates and maintains plant equipment to meet customer energy demand with support of other on-shift personnel safely, reliably, and efficiently, and in compliance with all laws and regulations, company policies, procedures, and other directives, and in conformance with all customer contracts which govern the operation of the facility.
• Basic understanding of ladder logic, and function block programming to troubleshoot system operations, modify plant operations, and update data trends. Read electrical schematics and know how to use a multimeter and basic electricity troubleshooting.
• Is responsible to take direct action to correct off-normal and emergency situations that occur any time of day or night while on duty.
• Performs Preventive, corrective, seasonal maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspections on chillers, compressors, boilers, solar arrays, solar trackers, solar inverters, and related energy systems, as well as all other auxiliary equipment.
• Suggests additional training needs to the General Manager and/or Chief Engineer to ensure the highest levels of readiness for regular and emergency operation.
• Records and interprets plant-operating data utilizing logbooks, databases, PCs, tablets, smartphones, and other provided technology.
• Maintains efficient and cost-effective daily operations of the facility.
• Supports vendors, contractors, and support personnel to ensure smooth operation and appropriate response to plant problems that occur while on duty.
• Must comply with all lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry permit, and hot work permits for safety and plant operational reliability.
• Perform water treatment testing and take corrective actions as needed.
• Communicate with construction contractors and project manager, as necessary to complete plant evolutions.
• Ensures communication of needed repairs to the General Manager and/or the Chief Engineer.
• Perform plant cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The employee is frequently required to climb ramps/stairs; fine manipulation by picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in gross manipulation; gross manipulation by seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hands; and standing/walking.
The employee is occasionally required to climbing ladders and scaffolding; crawling; crouching; foot/leg controls; keyboarding; lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.; near vision acuity with clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less; pushing; pulling; reaching at/below shoulder level by extending hand and arms from 0 up to 150 degrees in a vertical arc; reaching overhead by extending hands in a 150 to 180 degrees vertical arc; sitting; and stooping.
Must be capable of maneuvering throughout industrial facilities such as energy plants and building HVAC mechanical rooms, etc.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position involves working in a steam, hot water, and/or chilled water plant and/or its distribution system. While performing job duties, employees may occasionally encounter potential hazards, including fumes, airborne particles, high-pressure steam in piping or equipment, both hot and cold temperatures, and hazards associated with moving machinery. The work environment's noise level typically ranges from moderate to loud. Other potential hazards common to heating and cooling plants may include confined spaces, slippery surfaces, rotating equipment, chemical handling (e.g., water treatment chemicals), and burns. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and physical controls are in place as needed to mitigate these risks.

We are committed to providing salary ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on your experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity considerations.
The hourly range for this position is: $40.00 to $43.00.
This range reflects the base salary for this position.
