ECC is hiring a Staff Environmental Scientist for an onsite position in Portsmouth, NH, with a hybrid work arrangement available. The role focuses on fieldwork related to environmental remediation and hazardous waste management, including preparing reports, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with regulations. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, and prior internship experience is preferred. The salary range is $60,000 to $70,000 annually.
DescriptionLocation: Onsite at Portsmouth, NH (Hybrid work arrangement available)Position:Staff Environmental ScientistECC is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist. This position will initially involve a greater emphasis on field work than office-based responsibilities, providing hands-on experience and direct project involvement. A hybrid work arrangement is available, offering flexibility as you transition into the role. This office and field position is primarily responsible for helping plan, select, coordinate and implement scientific and environmental services to fully address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations. In this position, you will: Under direct supervision, prepare environmental reports and plansAnalyze environmental/ site/ material dataPerform cross-disciplinary safety/quality, project controls, procurement and contracts, and estimating duties as assigned Report to the site and conduct field sampling, construction, engineering, and other miscellaneous field support servicesMaintain budget and schedule for assigned tasksApply industry standards of practice for selected technology, adhering to regulatory codes, building codes, national/ local standards, and company policies and SOPs As directed, report to the field to perform and/or inspect or observe fieldwork, and review work of personnel, subcontractors and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites), in a timely and accurate mannerIn addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this positionRequirementsApply basic knowledge of general scientific and engineering principles and analytical tools, as directedApply education of environmental processes, remediation technologies, design and construction technologies as directedImplement Federal environmental regulations, DoD guidelines, OSHA standards, USACE QC protocol, building codes/ standards, and FAR, as directedCommunicate effectively by written and verbal meansPerform multiple concurrent tasks and meet timelines, as directedWork well independently and as a teamCompetent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows No previous experience required but internship preferredEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Life, Earth or Natural Sciences, Environmental Management, or related field from an accredited institution.Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.Preferred Qualifications Prior internship in field of study preferredECC targeted base salary range is $60,000 to $70,000 annually. Actual salary offered may be affected by education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, and location.
