Job Description

KC Harvey, an Aventia Company, is seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Scientist to support projects in Bozeman, Montana and throughout the U.S. This role involves both field and office work, including environmental monitoring, data analysis, and report writing. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 2-8 years of experience. The position allows for remote work but may require occasional in-office reporting.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position consists of both field and office work,requiring close collaboration with KC Harvey staff to develop practical, science-based solutions for our clients. Reporting to a Senior Project Manager in our Bozeman, Montana Office, the Staff Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Scientist will work directly with our project managers providing field and office support to various projects, including conducting environmental monitoring and investigations, developing sampling plans, data analysis, site characterization, permitting support, closure planning and reclamation cost estimate support, and report writing. This position’s main responsibility is to support projects in the Bozeman office, as well to projects and offices throughout KC Harvey.
This position presents the opportunity to participate and become an expert in an array of development, operation, remediation and closure/reclamation projects for mining, oil and gas, energy, and governmental sectors supported by KC Harvey.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Completing environmental and water resource project tasks
Managing and analyzing environmental data
Sampling of groundwater, surface water, and soil
Storm water permitting, inspections, reporting, and compliance and maintenance
Experience in development and implementation of project work plans, including sampling/analysis
Support technical and regulatory permitting
Support closure/reclamation cost estimate efforts
Aquifer characterization
Support remedial design and implementation
Support Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, SPCC planning and SWPPPs
Prepare client reports and project deliverables
Expectation of support for an array of projects throughout the U.S.

KEY CAPABILTIES/REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, geology, hydrology/hydrogeology, environmental science, or related field.
2–8 years of relevant professional experience preferred.
Maintain relevant and essential certifications (identified in coordination with the Supervisor).
Montana SWPPP Preparer/Administrator certification preferred.
Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., NEPA, EPA guidelines, Montana Water Quality Circulars, Montana Metal Mine Reclamation, state specific voluntary cleanup programs, NPDES/MPDES permitting, closure/reclamation standards, and other regional environmental regulatory requirements,).
Technical writing, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver high-quality work on schedule.
Problem-solving ability to handle unexpected challenges requiring quick thinking and flexibility.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, GIS, AutoCAD, or other data analysis software.
Proficiency in project management tools preferred (MS Project, Procore, or Primavera).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Expectation for travel and conducting fieldwork in variable terrain and weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to participate in pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
Report daily to the Bozeman, Montana Office (in -office or field, unless approved to work from home).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to travel as required.
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.).
Ability to walk on uneven terrain and carry field equipment weighing up to 30-50 pounds.
Ability to stand, bend, and kneel during field activities and sampling events.
Ability to wear required PPE and comply with both client and company field safety protocols.

Salary: $25 - 35 / hour
