Environmental Project Manager with at least 5+ years of environmental regulatory experience in Virginia.

Job Description: The Sr.


Environmental Project
Manager is a subject matter expert who can independently coordinate with clients and agencies to oversee and deliver consulting services and deliverables both on time and on/under budget. The Sr.
Environmental Project
Manager is responsible for some business development tasks, the management and mentorship of project staff, and QA/QC of assigned tasks and deliverables. The successful candidate will be able to perform assigned duties and responsibilities independently and manage projects with little oversight.
Key Responsbilities:

Acts as subject matter expert, using professional judgment to direct, monitor, and complete assigned projects
Actively delegates and coordinates tasks and schedules with project team members
Independently coordinates with clients on technical matters
Serves as a mentor to teach and train junior staff
Pro-actively identifies project technical, schedule, or financial issues and seeks resolution with clients and project team
Represents DEC with clients, agencies, and stakeholders
Initiates and pursues new business opportunities through existing relationships and proactive outreach.
Develops proposals, including the cost estimation and scheduling of proposed work
Occasional day and overnight travel is required

Qualifications:

Proven project management experience within a professional environmental regulatory career
Proven project experience with complex regulatory issues and up-to-date knowledge of Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Maryland regulatory landscapes
In depth knowledge of relevant state (VA, NC, GA, MD) and federal legislation/policy with a special emphasis on CWA Sections 401/404 and associated permitting
Experience with NEPA, ESC and Stormwater, Buffer Authorizations, and CAMA permitting
Demonstrable skills and experience of field surveys and assessments and regulatory agency meetings
Ability to lead wetlands and waters delineations and other field work
Experience performing restoration planning and monitoring, and plant and/or wildlife surveys
Ability to work independently, and collaboratively, to prepare reports, and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to efficiently delegate and coordinate tasks and schedules, consult with clients, and manage staff to meet deadlines and budgets
Experience with invoice review
Ability to evaluate and mentor assigned staff to the project teams, as well as provide feedback on team performance
Experience preparing proposals and leading business development efforts
Strong decision-making skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail are required
Excellent time management, organizational, and verbal/written communications skills are required

Education/Certifications:
The ideal candidate will have at minimum, a bachelor's degree in an environmental discipline (environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources, soil science or related natural resources field) . A master’s degree or other professional certifications are preferred. A minimum of 5-10 years experience is required.
