About the position

The Solar Energy System Designer position at RER Energy Group is a part-time role with the potential for full-time employment. This position is focused on designing solar energy systems for commercial, industrial, and municipal projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating optimal electrical designs by comparing various inverters, modules, and balance of system (BOS) components, while also optimizing electrical configurations. This includes preparing single line electrical drawings that are crucial for project implementation. In addition to electrical design, the role involves layout design, where the designer will create physical photovoltaic (PV) designs that take into account local obstructions, environmental attributes, and building regulations. The designer will also select appropriate hardware to securely mount PV modules, ensuring they can withstand various environmental conditions, whether on roofs or ground installations. The position also emphasizes innovation, as the designer will help develop internal best practices, review suppliers' technologies, and identify potentially advantageous new products and applications within the renewable energy field. The designer will be tasked with specifying components that meet appropriate levels of performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Coordination with project managers is essential to develop timelines and project planning steps, and the designer will assist with both solar electrical and thermal system layouts.

Responsibilities
• Create optimal electrical designs by comparing different inverters, modules, and BOS components and optimizing electrical configurations.

Requirements
• Undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.

• Understanding of architectural plans and schematics.

• Working knowledge of the 2008/2011 NEC.

• Experience in AutoCAD and MS Excel.
