Solar Business Developer
Our client is a leading solar and energy storage solutions provider specializing in civil construction for commercial and utility-scale projects. With a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation, they work closely with EPCs and industry partners to deliver high-quality solar solutions. As they continue to expand their market presence, they are seeking a dynamic Solar Business Developer to drive growth and cultivate long-term relationships.
The Solar Business Developer will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, fostering relationships with EPCs, and building a strong pipeline of solar and storage projects. This role requires a results-driven professional with a proven track record in B2B solar sales and the ability to navigate industry trends, utility incentives, and state policies. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, the ability to close deals, and a strategic mindset for expanding market opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with EPCs and key industry stakeholders to generate new and repeat business.
• Prospect and build a robust pipeline of solar and energy storage projects.
• Track business development efforts, success rates, and opportunities using CRM software.
• Stay informed on relevant solar policies, trends, and financial incentives to identify new market opportunities.
• Present and negotiate project proposals, ensuring alignment with client needs and company objectives.
• Maintain a professional presence in the industry, representing the company at conferences, meetings, and client engagements.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless project handoffs from business development to execution.
• Conduct periodic site visits to assess project feasibility and strengthen client relationships.
Key Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience: 2+ years in the solar/renewable energy industry and 5+ years in business development and/or sales.
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of solar project development, utility incentives, and state-level policies.
• Sales & Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to close deals and drive revenue growth.
• Communication & Organization: Strong ability to track and report business development activities in an easily understandable format.
• Technical Proficiency: Experience using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Work Ethic: Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently when necessary.
• Travel: Ability to visit remote sites periodically as needed.
Salary: $90,000–$110,000 + Commission
