Job Description

Wastenot Farms Inc. is seeking a full-time Soil Technician in Mono, ON, Canada. The role involves on-farm labor related to regenerative composting, including worm husbandry and product development. Candidates should have strong communication skills, a willingness to perform physical labor, and a passion for sustainability. The position offers a salary of CA$20 per hour, with benefits such as flexible scheduling and wellness programs.
The technician will assist in the planning, implementation and development of regenerative composting processes and procedures for expanding the production of Jocelyn's Soil Booster soil amendments.

About Wastenot:

Wastenot Farms is a small regenerative farm that uses worm composting to produce Jocelyn’s Soil Booster Worm Manure. We collect food waste, process it through our worms and harvest, refine and bag our premium plant food products.

Location details:

The farm is near Airport Road & Highway 9.

Work hours:

Full-time, ~35 hours per week

Duties & Responsibilities
• On-farm labour including worm husbandry, harvesting worm castings, drying/ bagging product
• Research and develop production protocols that are replicable, scalable and regenerative
• Aid in the development and trial of new soil amendment products
• Produce suggested process improvements
• Manage & oversee inventory and fulfillment

Qualifications
• Ability to communication clearly and effectively
• Willingness to engage in demanding physical labour
• Ability to read, synthesize, and analyze technical manuals, procedures and documents
• Committed to carefully following direction
• Motivated to prioritize and complete tasks as required
• Possess an innate curiosity to learn
• Previous experience in a technical or trade working environment
• Possess and demonstrate a health and safety mindset
• Passionate and knowledgable about soil, sustainability, or local food & farm systems

Physical Requirements:
• Able to withstand periods of standing, shovelling & repetitive physical labour
• Ability to work with food waste & soil
• Ability to lift and move 25 kg boxes
• Ability to shovel 20kg pound repeatedly outdoors in all weather

Summary

As a Soil Technician, you will be integral to our operations, focusing on quality control and manufacturing processes within the organization. Reporting to the CEO, your role will involve utilizing core skills in lean manufacturing while applying skills such as SAP and process improvement to enhance efficiency. You will also leverage your mechanical knowledge and understanding of supply chain dynamics to support continuous improvement initiatives. Your expertise in assembly and quality control will ensure that our products meet the highest standards, contributing to our commitment to excellence in soil management.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.5 – 35 per week
