In this pivotal role, you will drive the innovation and operational excellence necessary to establish sustainable AI practices, while promoting progress toward our global sustainability goals. The Senior Manager of AI Sustainability will be the technical anchor for the Salesforce Impact team, linking our corporate sustainability objectives to our dynamic AI strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Smart Demand:Collaborate with Product teams to enhance AI model efficiency benchmarks, prioritizing environmental performance.Lead the creation and implementation of environmental tracking tools that support transparency in AI usage.Efficiency Optimization:
Partner with Engineering and Infrastructure teams to enhance compute power utilization while reducing energy consumption across our data centers.Work alongside Infrastructure to implement energy-efficient operations and optimize cooling for AI workloads.Engage with hyperscale providers to utilize geo-aware routing and clean energy resources for optimal compute placement.Drive initiatives to appropriately size AI models and manage token usage, optimizing computational demand across AI services.Cross-Functional Strategy, Implementation, & Industry Leadership:
Establish and manage sustainability KPIs that align AI and infrastructure initiatives with our sustainability goals.Lead alignment initiatives across AI Research, Legal, and Business units to incorporate sustainability into the AI development lifecycle.Collaborate with Procurement to set sustainability standards for AI model providers, ensuring transparency in our supply chain.Work on clean energy procurement strategies while addressing AI and infrastructure-related sustainability risks.Support Salesforce in shaping global standards for sustainable AI.Engage in customer advisory programs and sustainability roundtables, enhancing Salesforce's role as a trusted partner in AI sustainability.Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 6 years of experience in technical product management, software engineering, AI implementation, or data center infrastructure.A strong commitment to sustainability, with the desire to apply technical expertise to reduce the carbon footprint of AI and data centers.In-depth understanding of AI technologies, including model development, LLM architectures, and enterprise deployment.Familiarity with AI model optimization techniques and frameworks.Proficiency in data analysis to transform raw telemetry data into actionable sustainability strategies.Excellent communication skills, adept at simplifying complex topics for diverse audiences.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with data querying and analysis using SQL, Tableau, and/or Python.Familiarity with partnerships involving hyperscaler providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and optimization of cloud infrastructure.Background in infrastructure capacity planning, workload management, or cloud resource optimization.Experience in environmental assessments, carbon footprint analysis, or sustainability measurement frameworks.A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.Why Join Us?

In select cities within metropolitan areas like San Francisco and New York City, the base salary range is $172,200 to $236,700 annually. Please note that this range is for base salary only and does not encompass company bonuses, sales incentives, equity, or benefits applicable to the role.
