Job Description
ClientEarth is seeking a Senior Lawyer for Energy Systems in the Philippines, offering a salary of ₱2.1 to ₱2.5 million per year. This full-time, remote position focuses on advancing the low-carbon transition in Asia, requiring expertise in energy law and policy. The fixed-term contract runs until December 2025, with potential for extension. Key responsibilities include legal research, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy.

About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified energy lawyer in the Philippines to contribute to the work of ClientEarth's Energy Systems, Asia Programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the low-carbon transition in the Philippines and across Asia, leveraging their expertise in energy law, policy, and regulation. This is a fixed-term position from March to December 2025, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role based on performance and organizational needs. The position is remote based in Metro Manila, Philippines, occasional travel within Asia and internationally may be required.
In this role, you will engage with partners across the Philippines and Asia to strengthen and accelerate the low-carbon transition and address climate change, build a network of relationships in the Philippines, actively develop ClientEarth’s work in the Philippines, conduct legal, technical and factual research and drafting; and present said work both internally and with external stakeholders.
Meet your Manager
In this role, you will be managed by Tim Guanzon . Tim joined ClientEarth in September 2022 to work on energy regulation and markets in Asia. Before joining ClientEarth, Tim was the Director for the Energy Committee under a Philippine Senator for close to 6 years. Her work focused on legislation and oversight over the entire energy value chain where she led the team providing legal and technical support for the passage of 11 new energy laws. She is one of the awardees of the Women in Renewables Asia 2019."
Main Duties
• Strategic Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of ClientEarth's strategic priorities in the Philippines.
• Legal Research and Analysis
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Philippines, including government agencies, industry leaders, civil society organizations, and international donors.
• Advocacy and Representation: Represent ClientEarth in public forums and networking events to raise the organization's profile and advocate for climate action.

Role requirements
• Fluent (CEFR level C2) in English and Filipino
• Law degree or equivalent
• Relevant legal professional qualification in the Philippines
• Experience in energy law, policy, and regulation, particularly in renewable energy
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
