Job Description
Shirley Parsons is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist – Wastewater in Omaha, NE. The role involves improving wastewater treatment operations across multiple production sites in the Midwest, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and serving as a technical resource. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in wastewater systems. This is an onsite position with a salary range of $80,000 to $120,000 per year.
A large, multi-site food manufacturing organization is looking to add a Senior Environmental Specialist – Wastewater to support environmental performance across several production facilities in the Midwest and Central U.S. This person will be tasked with improving the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of wastewater treatment operations while serving as a technical resource to plant teams. It’s a strong opportunity for a hands-on wastewater professional to influence standardized practices across a broad manufacturing network.
This is an onsite role that can be based from Fayetteville, AR, Omaha, NE or the Dayton, OH area.
The Role
Serve as the subject matter expert for wastewater treatment process design, control, and troubleshooting, partnering with engineering, maintenance, and EHS teams on system improvements and upgrades.Lead monitoring and optimization of DAF, equalization, and neutralization systems through sampling, laboratory analysis, data trending, and development of operational playbooks.Travel to multiple sites to identify and implement process improvements that enhance treatment efficiency while reducing energy and chemical usage.Support daily operation and performance of treatment infrastructure including pumps, aerators, clarifiers, and related equipment.Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local wastewater permits, supporting inspections, reporting, and permit applications or renewals.
The Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.3+ years of experience operating and optimizing industrial or municipal wastewater treatment systems, with strong exposure to DAF and chemical treatment processes.Proven ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions using SCADA systems and laboratory testing.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to operators and non-technical stakeholders; training experience is a plus.Wastewater operator certification and/or EIT or PE preferred; experience with wastewater solids management and land application is a plus.
