Primary Purpose:
The Senior Engineer will be crucial in developing use cases and deploying key emerging grid technologies like Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), battery energy storage systems, and microgrids. Serving as the lead responsible engineer, you will collaborate directly with internal and external stakeholders to implement, test, and configure new technologies and integrate them with our enterprise systems.
This role also supports our Operational Technology Security Governance Program (OTSGP) initiatives, helping to establish security controls to protect our personnel, property, and information from cyber security risks associated with Operational Technology. A solid understanding of the electrical distribution system, smart grid devices, and relevant policies like FERC 2222 is essential.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities:
• Lead and perform specialized engineering assignments, maintaining current expertise in the field (25%).
• Manage and execute engineering tasks related to critical projects, including field testing and troubleshooting (30%).
• Evaluate and implement impactful projects, developing commissioning plans and documentation (10%).
• Contribute to department planning, providing budget recommendations and monitoring project performance (5%).
• Operate independently, potentially overseeing multi-discipline teams and contractors (5%).
• Act as a subject matter expert in specialized areas (5%).
• Provide expert opinions and testimony as needed (5%).
• Advise management and implement strategies for performance and cost improvement (5%).
• Deliver technical training and mentorship to colleagues (5%).
• Engage with technical societies to stay updated on industry trends and recommend strategies for new technologies (5%).
Job Scope:

• Apply technical knowledge to promote a safe working environment and enhance customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer.
• 7+ years of professional engineering experience with advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Ability to analyze complex electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience in applying engineering theory and problem-solving approaches.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Graduate degree or relevant project management certification.
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and proficiency with analysis software such as CYMDIST, PSS&E, or MATLAB.
• Ability to analyze industry-wide trends for enhancements.
