Our client, a renowned architecture firm committed to innovative and sustainable design, is seeking a talented Senior Architectural Designer to join their practice in Des Moines, Iowa . This hybrid role offers the chance to shape the future of the built environment by contributing to cutting-edge projects that prioritize environmental responsibility and occupant well-being. The Senior Architectural Designer will lead the design process for various projects, from conceptualization through construction documentation, ensuring design excellence and adherence to sustainable principles. You will collaborate closely with clients, engineers, and construction teams to translate visions into tangible, high-performance buildings. Responsibilities include developing design concepts, creating detailed drawings and specifications, and coordinating with consultants. A strong portfolio showcasing expertise in sustainable design, LEED certification processes, and proficiency in industry-standard design software is essential. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture and have at least 7 years of professional experience in architectural design, with a significant focus on sustainable building practices. Licensure as a Registered Architect (RA) or eligibility to obtain it is highly preferred. Key responsibilities include:
Lead the design development of architectural projects from concept to completion, ensuring integration of sustainable design strategies. Create and present innovative design concepts and solutions to clients and project teams. Produce high-quality architectural drawings, renderings, and specifications using industry-standard software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp). Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers, as well as other consultants, to ensure integrated design solutions. Ensure design compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and accessibility standards. Manage project documentation and contribute to the development of construction administration processes. Champion sustainable design practices, including LEED certification requirements, energy efficiency strategies, and the use of environmentally friendly materials. Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative team environment. Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies for new projects. Review shop drawings and submittals during the construction phase to ensure design intent is maintained. Exceptional design talent, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for sustainable architecture are required. The ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a collaborative team setting is crucial.
