Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced academic historian to join our team as an Assistant Professor of United States history and environmental history. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching, research, and community engagement. As a member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching a variety of undergraduate courses, including surveys in US history and environmental history, and engaging in ongoing professional development and research in history or the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:
• Teach a range of undergraduate history courses, including introductory US history surveys, environmental history, and urban or public history.
• Create and teach courses in both online and in-person formats, ensuring high-quality instruction that meets the standards of the Quality Matters rubric.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and research in history or the scholarship of teaching and learning, contributing to the growth and advancement of the field.
• Engage in service duties, such as participating in departmental, college, and university governance, creating policies, and attending committee meetings.

Requirements:
• A PhD in History or a closely related field is required prior to effective date of appointment.
• The successful candidate will have four courses of collegiate-level teaching experience, including one survey course in US history, at least one course of online teaching, and one course of in-person teaching.
• A minimum of one of the following requirements must be met: either experience teaching one environmental history course at the collegiate level or one publication or presentation in the area of environmental history.
