Seasonal Ecologist - London

Jacobs is hiring Seasonal Ecologists in Cardiff, UK, to support data collection and monitoring across various projects. Candidates should have an ecology degree and experience in field surveys. The role involves ecological surveying, report writing, and logistical planning. Positions are available on fixed-term or zero-hour contracts, both full-time and part-time. We employ several field biologists and ecologists to assist with and undertake data collection and monitoring commitments on projects. We are looking for seasonal ecologists to support our project commitments on a range of contract types across our office locations in; Peterborough/Norwich, London, Cardiff, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Winnersh, Worcester, and Birmingham.

We are especially interested in recruiting experienced field survey leads, bat specialists, water vole specialists, botanists, and ornithologists. We would be keen to offer fixed-term and zero-hour contracts, full-time or part-time, to the right candidates.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Supporting the national team of ecologists working on a variety of projects
• Survey support and logistic planning
• Ecological surveying and biological data collection
• Producing quality-assured ecology deliverables
• Report Writing

Our Water and Environment business provides a focus for advising our clients on sustainability issues including renewable energy, low carbon economies, impacts of climate change and waste and resource management. Our environmental capabilities comprise of in excess of 1000 staff based predominantly in the UK, but with reach into Europe, the Middle East and in India.
• An honours degree in Ecology or similar
• Experience in ecology surveys and as a field scientist
• Eligibility for CIEEM membership
• Capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice
• Ability to write clear, concise reports 
• You must be a good team player with a willingness to work away from your base office.

Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have: 
• Driving license (please specify on your CV)
• Relevant undergraduate work placements, post graduate studies or volunteering experience
• Understanding of relevant UK Ecology legislation
• Understanding of GIS or basic ability using ArcGIS
• Full CIEEM membership
• Postgraduate degree
• Protected species licence(s)
• An ecological specialism
• Chartered Environmentalist
• Ecological Clerk of Works (EcCoW) experience
