Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist

The Central Connecticut Health District is hiring a Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist in Rocky Hill, CT. Candidates should have a relevant bachelor's degree, CT Food Inspector certification, and experience in environmental health. The role involves routine inspections, investigating complaints, and plan reviews. The position is full-time with a salary range of $52,225 to $64,246 and includes benefits like health insurance and paid time off. In-person work is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental health, public health, biology, sanitary engineering or related field.
• CT Certified Food Inspector.
• Two years of responsible experience in the field of environmental health.
• Septic, lead inspections and plan review experience.
• Registered Sanitarian/Registered Environmental Health Specialist preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, possess good computer skills, and be able to work safely and independently.

Essential Functions:
• Performs routine inspections of regulated facilities including food service establishments, public pools, hair and nail salons, motels and child care facilities.
• Investigates a wide variety of environmental complaints.
• Performs plan reviews for food service and salon establishments.
• Soil testing, plan review, site inspections for subsurface sewage disposal systems.

Salary and Benefits:
• Salary for R.S commensurate with experience. May fill opening at a lower level with non-RS.
