Scripps Health is seeking a full-time Environmental Safety Officer in La Jolla, CA. This role involves developing safety programs, serving as a resource for safety committees, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This is a full-time exempt position, Monday-Friday with weekend availability required as needed. Flexibility is a must. This position is located at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla.

The Environmental Safety Officer acts as an "internal consultant" on environmental safety-related matters.

As the Environmental Safety Officer your duties will include:
• Helping develop and maintain systems and programs to assure a comprehensive Workplace Safety and Environment of Care management program as outlined in the standards found within The Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory guidelines regarding environmental safety aspects related to healthcare settings within the State of California.
• Serve as staff resource to appropriate committees for environmental and occupational safety and to local (appointing unit) and system-wide Safety Committee and Emergency Management Committee.
• Integrating and coordinating all efforts with other organizational staff resources while educating staff on safe working practices and safety-related issues.
• Ensuring policies, procedures and activities are in place to comply with regulatory agencies.
• Assuming the position of Safety Officer and advisor to the Incident Commander during times of disaster and emergent operations.
• Serving as the "coordinator" of the site(s) Safety Management and Hazardous Materials, Waste and Communications Management Programs (HAZMAT/COM).
