Job Description

Crooked Media is seeking a Reporting Fellow, Climate, based in Washington, DC or California, to enhance climate reporting across its network for a six-month project. Ideal candidates are skilled reporters with experience in climate journalism, capable of producing content for newsletters, podcasts, and social media. Responsibilities include researching stories, pitching segments, and collaborating with partners. The role offers competitive pay ($120,000 - $150,000) and excellent benefits, including paid healthcare and generous vacation.
Crooked believes that we need a better conversation about politics, culture, and the world around us—one that doesn’t just focus on what’s broken, but what we can do to fix it. We are a media network that showcases stories, voices, and opportunities for activism that inform, entertain, and inspire action, because it’s up to all of us to do our part to build a better world.

What You’ll Bring To The Table:
• Climate reporting experience. You’ll bring in a robust story list and a deep list of sources
• Comfort producing content across platforms: digital, audio and video
• A sense of humor
• A collaborative approach
• Able and willing to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news
• Self-motivated, reliably able to hit deadlines

Pay and Perks:

At Crooked, we believe in paying employees at or above market rates that are informed by salary surveys and industry benchmarks. In addition to competitive salaries, we offer full-time employees excellent benefits including:
• Paid healthcare
• 401k match
• Generous vacation
• 20 weeks of paid parental leave
• Did we also mention our offices are closed at the end of the year?

Once we’re ready to extend an offer, we look at the individual’s years of relevant experience and other compensable factors to determine a competitive offer. And for this role, the starting annual salary range is $120,000 - $150,000.
